Hydraulic Press is recognized as the hydraulic mechanism which is used for applying large lifting or compressive force. The hydraulic press is the hydraulic equivalent of the mechanical lever which is also referred to as the Bramah press. This name has been given after its inventor Joseph Bramah, from the country England. After the invented he issued the patent on the press in the year 1795. Hydraulic presses are considered as most frequently used modern press.

The working of hydraulic press depends upon the pascal's principle, in which the the pressure from the closed system remains constant. On one end of the system there is the piston having small cross sectional area driven through the lever for increasing the force. On the other hand there is small diameter tubing. Pressure at the confined fluid is then transmitted undiminished and with it acts through the equal force on the equal area and at the 90 degree of the container wall.
