Plug Valve is characterized as the valves which have cylindrical or conically tapered 'plugs', that can be rotated inside the valve body with an aim of controlling the flow through the valve. The plugs of plug valves consist of 1 or more hollow passageways on the sideways through the sideways, which in turns facilitates the flowing of fluid from the plug in case the valve is open, It is also possible that the plug valves have more than 2 ports. In the case of 3 way-plug valve, flow of the port can be directed either to the second or third port. The 3 way plug valve can also be designed for shifting the flow between the ports 1&2, 2&3 o 1&3 or it might connect all the 3 ports together. One of the most simplest type of pug valve is the 2-port valve, which includes of the two position-open to allow flow and second is shut for stopping the flow. The ports in plug valves are the openings in the valve body which allows entry and exit of fluid. Such plug in this type of valve includes of the passageway going through it. Stopcocks, which are used in the laboratory glassware, are considered to be part of the conically tapered plug valves. When it is fused with the glassware, the valve bodies are made up of glass. Otherwise, inert plastic can be used for their making like teflon.
